Starting a Care Home

senior in care home My wife and I have been working in the medical industry for years.  Since we are now in our fifties, we thought it would be nice to start our own business and maybe have a chance to slow down our pace of life.  So, after much deliberation, we decided that we would start a care home.

Our children moved out years ago, so we knew that our home would be the perfect size for four or five customers to live with us.  The only thing that we were worried about were the stairs to get up to the main floor – we needed to do something about that.

But my wife is best friends with the local stair lift provider here in town, and they were able to cut her a good deal on both the stair lift and some lift chairs for our living room.  So, thankfully that will save us a lot of money on our startup costs.

There are a few more things that we need in our home including new beds, a better washing machine, and a new paint job.  We are giving ourselves until the end of summer to get everything done and then we will open our doors to the public.

I just hope that we can fill up our home quick because we will be living on our savings until we turn a profit.
