Bringing Light to Darkness

In some respects, it often feels that my job is a little prophetic. I bring light to darkness.
That makes me sound like a bit of a deity or something along those lines, but I guess that isn’t exactly what my real job description would be, but rather the glorified version of it. Truth be told, it is a little less exciting, but when I tell everyone that I deliver Fulham Ballast light bulbs, people don’t really have a response as they don’t know what I just said.
I have also seen many people just shake their heads in acknowledgement even though that you can see in their eyes that they have no idea what was said. I just wish that these people would ask for clarification about what I do instead of pretending to understand – in some respects, I feel a bit insulted when that happens.
So, after many attempts at trying to describe exactly what I do to friends and acquaintances, I finally decided that I would dummy it down as much as I could so it would be something that they would understand. Now, when someone asks what I do for a living, I just tell them that I deliver fluorescent light bulbs, and pretty much everyone can relate to that.
