Meditation Helps Me with My Art

I think that meditation is wonderful.  I honestly cannot say enough positive things about it.  There are so many different meditation techniques out there that I can always find the time to practice, whether I have five minutes or a half of an hour.  I began using meditation as a way to cope with stress but it has evolved into so much more.

When I am able to meditate, I just feel centered and grounded.  And it does feel good to take care of myself and do something for me.  I sometimes get so caught up in taking care of my kids, husband, friends, parents, and the house, that I really need to just take 10 minutes to meditate.  It’s almost like hitting the reset button.

I am an artist.  I mostly paint but I do some metal work and sculpture as well.  I have found that meditation really helps me with my work.  If I feel blocked or uncreative, meditating will usually help me to work past that.  I have also gotten some pretty amazing ideas for my painting while I have been meditating.  I definitely feel more open and creative since I began meditating on a regular basis.  I have even starting writing down some artist specific meditation techniques.  I have several friends who are writers and artists and I think that they will really be able to benefit from what I have learned.
