Finding Things Online
By webViewr on Apr 23, 2009 in Internet
As a freelance writer, I do a lot of stuff online. I find jobs, communicate with clients, and do research for writing projects via the Internet. So I’m pretty good at finding the information I want online.
It never ceases to amaze me how much more is online than there used to be. I remember in 1997 or so, getting onto the Internet I’d heard so much about, and being extremely disappointed with how uninteresting it was. It’s come a long way since then — virtually everything is online now, and interesting is a factor that most websites strive for.
For instance, do you remember when the only way you could find a doctor or a dentist in DC was either through your insurance company’s directory, or via a word-of-mouth referral from someone who had the same insurance as you? Nowadays you just search online for, say, “best dentist in DC area” or “sedation dentistry in Washington DC,” and you come up with a list of dentists to choose from, as well as contact information, reviews, company websites, and anything else you might need to make your decision.
The Internet has made life easier in so many ways, hasn’t it? Even in my line of work, it always surprises and delights me to see the amazing accessibility of information online!
