Halloween Means the Holiday Season is Coming

The Halloween season is upon us and with it brings the ghosts, goblins, pumpkins and tons of candy. Houses throughout the neighborhood are decorating their front porches with carved pumpkins, hay stacks, mums, and scarecrows. Cobwebs and ghosts hang from trees in the front yard while lighted pumpkins adorn windows. The Halloween season is a favorite because it officially marks the end of the summer season and kicks off the holiday season, for around the corner is Thanksgiving, followed by Christmas, Chanukah and New Years.
I love shopping with my daughters. We scope out the girls halloween costumes and debate who should be what for Halloween. They try on various outfits and discuss the upcoming festivities at school and at the church. They chatter about the apple bobbing contest and who will carve the best jack-o-lantern. They look forward to the Halloween parade and of course, trick-r-treating.
My oldest daughter picks out a cinderella costume since her favorite Disney princess is Cinderella. My youngest chooses a cat costume because her favorite animal is a kitten. They look adorable and I cherish this time when they are young and excited about little things like pumpkin carving and dressing up like princesses and cats.
